HAS Rehabilitation Technician Training Program (RTTP)

Goals
The RTTP aims to establish rehabilitation services throughout the structure of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti. The program hopes to both strengthen and expand services provided in the hospital. In addition to the hospital setting, rehabilitation will be offered at the dispensary and community levels through HAS’s six health centers throughout its services area.

We hope to have both direct and lasting effects on the 610 square mile service area of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti and to have spin-off effects on the rest of the country.

RTTP focuses on achieving the following objectives:

1) Increase the availability of services to improve functional outcomes for people receiving medical/surgical care from HAS.

2) Offer opportunities for care to improve the functional potential of people with impairments, disabilities and handicaps through rehabilitation, awareness or community mobilization.

3) Strengthen existing curative care structures in the hospital and community health systems.

4) Strengthen rehabilitation systems nationally.

5) Provide support for disabled persons’ organizations.

6) Contribute to disability mainstreaming efforts at HAS.

7) Contribute to disability prevention activities and chronic disease management efforts
